Turning Into Kampung Boy

For the past few days, I had been travelling around in Miri as much as possible before leaving East Malaysia for good. It did really broke me so fast that my wallet couldn't accept the fact that he's so light.

There is a trip to long house which is organized by Curtin last Saturday. It is good to go where I never been before, but what's best is that it is FREE! Meaning free food and free transportation! =D

Departing at 6am in the morning is a refreshing start for all of us. Having an engine failure due to overheating even makes me more refreshing for sucking in the CO smoke. Therefore, we exchange for another bus and again, we have bus breakdown. We thought it's another engine failure but the driver says no more petrol.

WTF?!

That only makes tougher jobs for guys because we will be pushing the bus. Girls also having rough time because there is no air-conditioner for them to stop sweating.

It was scheduled that we are supposed to be arriving at the long house at 8am and we got to reach at about 3pm.

Upon the arrival, chief and the fellow long houser are welcoming us with open arms despite of the un-punctuality. The chief dance along the long house so that the spirit recognize us. I wonder how many people died in that particular long house?

I heard that Iban is good at bomoh-ing and hangs skull head representing their bravery. It's kinda scary to see that, but then I never any of those. All I can see is humble and friendly Iban people. Bluff people one.

It does seem nice that Iban people are friendly and they are really united as like the whole families in each houses are relatives. They are being so cincai whenever you eat their food. Even you do something nasty like sleeping on their beds also they are very patient.

Unfortunately that after the ride under the hot sun with the sweat smell and dust around your body, you are unable to bathe in their house BUT you're forced to bathe in the RIVER!

Damn it! All I can see is that women were bathing and washing their clothes with detergent and worst of all, men and children peed in the river!

I am so missing the city life.... :(

Malacca Famous Food

Remember the time where I went down to Malacca for conference?

I didn't exactly following up the timetable and escape to Malacca town to taste Malacca food.

Taugeh, steam chicken and loads of chicken balls rice! Yum yum!

It tasted well together with cold, chilly coconut drink especially eating them during hot weather.

The white chicken ball rice is the plain rice and the black chicken ball rice is made of yam rice.

Exactly the same as the yam rice in Taman Sentosa and I just love it! Even my friend from Bintulu has never tasted black rice in his entire life.

Of course, this ain't full yet and we continue our hunting in Jonker Street.

Guess what we found.

Malacca Curry Laksa!

The taste are different from Penang Laksa but it is still not as bad as what I thought.

Not only that but there is still other even more famous food that mustn't be forgotten.

BaBa Cendol!

Please don't kill me for posting delicious food up. Hahaha. Even myself is being tempted with it.

I admit this is the best of the best Cendol ever you can find in other state. It was so delicious that I ate 3 bowls and visited the same store for 3 days.

I WANNA GO BACK THERE AGAIN!

3 Months of Gila-ness

I never thought of having hiatus for few months! Not my intention at all! From the last post, I have been quite active in my Rotaract Club. Been having 3 major events last month and after that, I had my mid term exams. It was super hectic, you know?

At least I will post up what things that I have done during the hiatus period.

My 1st major event, Similajau Trip :

This is difficult for me to explain to you. Similajau beach is located in Bintulu which is at least 2 hours drive from Miri town. It is also well known as Pantai Keemasan. It was heard that the beach is pretty beautiful and quite well known in East Malaysia. Rumour says that there's even group of dolphins are being spotted there.

I'm not sure if there is any of that because I DIDN'T WENT FOR THE TRIP due to some political issue that happens in my club. It wasn't my intention to have any of that, but just imagine my friendship is betrayed because of one person. I don't want to have any futher explaination now.

My 2nd Major Event, Rotaract Installation Night :

Once again, I was assigned as a Program Master and I'm quite proud to do one cause it was a big event for the installation of new Board Of Director 07/08. Things again weren't went smoothly as it was expected to be. Imagine having big shot like Datuk to come over and watch bunch of bitches dancing like a low-class stripper and worst of all, they are just high school girls!

I was to be blamed eventually but I no nothing about programs because my role is indirectly taken over by someone. Even the MC was so horrible and Datuk even commented to them that they needed to be improved. I have told them to change the speech, MINOR part of the speech but yet they just wanted to be humiliated.

My 3rd Major Event, APRRC Malacca '07 :

I had attended Rotaract conference which is held in Malacca where many alien faces around like Filipina, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and many more came over to Malaysia. It was fun to attend as I had never been any of this before.

Best thing is that I came back to West Malaysia instead staying few months in East Malaysia. Really suck to be in Miri looking around the trees and grasses.

I got crazy until I wear this!

Just joking :)

Just don't say a word that I'm thin. I know that...

It is just a cultural night where every country has to perform their traditional dance. What I'm wearing is the Iban clothes. To be truth, it's so comfortable to wear them, but what awkward is the headgear on my head.

Even I heard some people mentioning me as 'chicken head', 'stripper'.

How embarassing...

It's fun that I got to know chicks people all around the world. Especially Korea where I have to learn how to talk humbly and softly to them even in the noisy atmosphere. It's so difficult to hear every single word they speak.

Damn it.

Even my own District of 3310 of East Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore are quite united in one way or another. Singaporean are quite friendly but you have to initiate the conversation first.

I wasn't really paying attention to most of the conference, but they were fairly ok only. Thinking that paying RM300 plus is not worthy at all actually because most of the speech are regarding about the Rotary club.

My 4th Major Event, Exam Week! :

Hate the exam!

P.S : Now that I'm quite free that I will again active in my blog until the time where I will be dead again. :)

It's because of my Final Exam now.

Looks Yucky, Taste Yummy!

I always seen in TV how people suffering just to eat raw oyster. It looks yucky and dirty, but then I just wanted to try!

Until then, I got the taste of raw oyster in Bali Hai Restaurant just a couple kilometer away from Gurney Plaza.

It looks yucky from the way it looks though. I spray it with lemon and dip it with sambal and I take a deep breath, placing the oyster into my mouth.

OMG!

It tastes so freaking GOOD!

Modern City, Eh?

I'm suprised...

Is this how civilised people live in modern city of the civilised era?

Pee-ing around the corner in the public? What a disgrace to the tourist's eyes.
